Hi there! I’m Tomie.
I am a lifestyle photographer serving Calgary and surrounding areas. I spend most of my time behind the camera photographing newborn babies, children, families as well as moms-to-be. I do love mixing it up now and then by photographing weddings, parties, or helping a local business capture their brand and headshots.
Your family is the most important thing in the world, and I know the portraits of your loved ones mean A LOT. I not only enjoy creating beautiful images but also capturing genuine moments, both the life changing events and the ordinary treasures, all while you are having fun!
It may feel awkward in front of the camera, but many of us feel the same way, including myself. I will walk you through every step to feel prepared and relaxed. Trust me, you will show up for your session as excited as I am.
I'm a mom to two and love, love spending time with babies and kids so no need to worry about your kiddos. You can relax and just be yourself while I create beautiful portraits for you to cherish for years to come.

I’m honored to be considered as a part of your wedding day. It is a BIG day and can be overwhelming, but there is no need to panic. Let me walk you through every step in planning a personal photo session to document your special day beautifully.
In many cases, a bride ends up spending just as much time, if not more, with me on her wedding day as she does with her new husband. I know how important it is to find someone who not only takes beautiful photographs, but also someone who can share in the joys and laughter of such a wonderful day. I’m grateful that so many couples allow me to be a part of such a special occasion.

THE EXPERIENCE
1. BEFORE THE BIG DAY
​
The wedding photography process begins long before you open your eyes on the morning of your wedding day (usually before the sun rise because you’re too excited to sleep). I love sitting down with you to go over the unique details of your wedding day to help put together a stress-free wedding day schedule.
​
I’m big on planning—we’ll get the schedule, family groupings and other little details worked out ahead of time so that the day runs perfectly. You can email me any time during the planning process—no question is too silly.
​
About a month before your wedding, I’ll have you send me photos of any walls in your home that you may want to design, along any with other personal photos that you want to see in wall gallery designs. If you plan to move soon, just let me know, and I’ll give you ideas for wall art that can be easily adapted to new spaces.
​
2. ON THE BIG DAY
​
On the wedding day, I’m like the bonus bridesmaid—I’ll do whatever I can to help things run smoothly and on time. I’ll fade into the background when I need to, and when it’s time to direct, and I’ll use a series of prompts and movements to get you interacting in a natural way so your photos won’t look stiff and uncomfortable even if your fiancé swears that he’s totally awkward in front of the camera.
3. AFTER THE SESSION

As a part of my editing process, I’ll select the photos that tell the best story of your day or session and remove duplicates and blinks, then I’ll edit all of your photos to give them a simple, custom look.
​
I don’t just want to send you a link and have you click through all of your images for the first time while you’re at work. I want it to be an experience—I want you to dedicate time to being together to see your images for the first time. Trust me. This is the best and most emotional part of your photography experience!
When your photos are ready, I’ll have you set up a time to view them in the comfort of your own home, a cafe, my home studio or wherever is convenient for you.
​
You’ll start by watching a SLIDESHOW of all of your photos together.
​
From there, I'll guide you through your favourite images and share products that best suit your home or can be given as gifts. You’ll have a chance to order print products with a one day discount at that appointment. I can even upload other personal photos for you if you want to put together a wall gallery with a mix of photos and help you visualize exactly what your photos will look like on your wall through my online gallery wall designer.

You'll go home with no extra item added onto your to-do-list. Let me take care of them from here.
You are all set!!

An in-person viewing session may not work for everyone. Don't worry. I'll create an online gallery for you to view your photos from your session and make your selection as well.

4. DELIVERY
2-6 weeks later, your art piece will be delivered directly at your door. Once those portraits are hanging, you can enjoy them EVERY DAY.

Q & A
Will you travel? Does this cost extra?
I live in Calgary, Alberta. Engagement sessions typically take place in Calgary and the surrounding area (Tomie is also available to photograph in Edmonton area on select dates).
​
Travel fees may apply outside Calgary for weddings, engagement and proposal sessions.
​

How and When do I pay?
​
For weddings, a deposit of $1,000 will hold your date. The remaining balance is due two weeks before the wedding date. For engagement sessions and proposals, session fees are due upon booking your session. Products can be ordered after the session.

I love to be a part of other events and parties too. This includes edited digital files with printing rights, delivered via digital download. I would be more than happy to document your special milestone party and event.
ENGAGEMENT AND PROPOSAL
Engagement and Proposal sessions are a great way to get to know your photographer, get a feel for what it’s like to be in front of the camera before your wedding day (I promise it will make you feel comfortable going into your wedding) and to capture who you are as a couple.

My session packages start from $310 for an Engagement and Proposal Session.
​
Engagement sessions with digital files are complimentary for all wedding packages of $3,100 and above.
​
Once you pick your session date, you'll receive a Welcome Email with many tips on how to prepare. This Welcome Email includes a short questionnaire with brief descriptions of your personalities, the general style you’re looking for, the color schemes you like, etc. Basically, I just want to know your needs and your personalities so that I can bring out your real YOU and maximize our time together during your photo shoot in a relaxing setting.
